Japan...

I'm sure that everybody in the world who has news access has heard about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Personaly i think it is horrible what can happen in the world. I was asked a question in my geography class, what effect did the disaster in Japan have on the U.S.? I didn't have much of and answer, but when we all put our answers together we had come up with so many things. From some of the tsunami hitting california, to radiation getting into the water in 16 of the states, all the way down to car companys losing specific car models and paint pigments. The debate in the class was weather we should help them by sending workers and money and things like that.

Another interesting thing is how all the people who wright the news need to get their facts straight. I compared two newspapers from the same morning from two differents sources that i wont mention. They were posted within the same hour of eachother, same kind of story, exept for one thing. one of them or the other one didnt have their facts right. One article said there was only one dead, while the other one said there where over 1,000 dead. Most articles now have agreed on the same amount of deaths. I don't know the exact number but i know that it is crazy high.

What I wish would happen is people from the U.S. would go over there and help out or send money or resourses or something. I do understand that there are people who are doing this but I just wish that more would participate. I also want to find a way for me to help out. I think the school should hold a fund raiser were we can donate money or food or supplies, just something and we get rewards for it to encourage us to help the people in japan.  I want to take a group of people and go over there to help with the clean up and help rebuild the cuties and donate food and things to get them back on their feet.

Another thing we talked about in our class was who should help them or if they even needed help. Most of the talking was about either china helping them out since they are so close, or them helping themselves out, after all they are a pretty strong country and not all of it was hit. They have a lot of resources and people to help out. But if we helped them out we may be releifed of some of our trillions of dollars of debt to them. That accually may be what most americans want to do, it may have them paying less taxes.

Some detail on the earthquake, tsunami, and aftershocks. The earthquake hit about midday and it was origionaly rated a 8.9 earthquake on the richter scal. after all of this stopped, the earthquake was rated a 9.0 on the richter scale. for those who dont know much about earthquakes and the richter scale this is a pretty serious earthquake. The aftershock was almost as bad as the earthquake itself. The tsunami was pretty amazing as well. it completely took out the shoreline and everything along with it. It took out shipyards, oil rigs, fisheries, etc. Overall this thing was pretty devastating, it killed many people and it destroyed many shorline cities. This has effected the people of japan majorly and we need to help because in the long run it will help us as well. Leave a comment below and tell me what you think about this and what you want to or would do if you could to help.

Tomorow

Aw man, tomorrow is going to be amazingly awesome. The symphonic band at school gets to go and see other schools preform. But the best part is we get to preform also. YAY! The other best thing is we are the best. And the third best thing is we got to do this exact same thing for jazz band last week. I'm pretty sure we are the best band ever, also the other schools faces are no longer with us.

After the preformance we get to go to the mall and just hang out for a couple of hours. last week me and 2 other people who shall not be named went and got giant burritos. Then like the idiots we are decided to go and get an extra large pizza. It may have been the best pizza ever, but i threw up when i got home so not good.

Anyway we get to do the exact same thing tomorrow and I am very exited. I get to tell people if they ask me what I did at school today i can so. "oh i went to a concert and then to the mall..." they'll be like "WHAAAT!?" anyway if you are exited for eastmont please leave a comment you know i love it when you comment.

Is blogging journalism

People say that blogging is not journalism. Journalists say that blogging is a looming enemy that is trying to corrupt journalism. I really don't think that that is true, I mean isnt journalism writing about events that happen in the world? Isn't that what blogging is too? Here are some other things that people say.

Charles Darwin once said, "it is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change,". What this means is that the most important thing to survival is being able to adapt to change. Someone said that blogging isnt the threat to journalism, fear of change is.

Someone said that blogging is not journalism but things like twitter, newspapers, and tvs are, because they are tools and talk about news. I see where they are coming from but blogging can be news worthy too. People talk about the news on their blogs all the time.

Jay Rosen describes bloggers as "speakers and writers of their own ibvention, at large in the public square. they"re participating in the great game of influence called public opinion. and thy're developing, mostly through labors of love, what I've called an extremely democratic medi tool."

Leave a comment below to tell me if you think blogging isnt or is journalism, also if you give me your blogger info i will follow you and read your opinion on this. Again I do think that blogging is journalism on some levels only however. if people are talking about random stuff that is obviously not journalism. Leave a comment.

Jhon Lennon

I'm pretty sure that everybody in the world knows who Jhon Lennon is. If you dont he was in the beatles. If you don't know the beatles then you don't know music. He was born 9 October 1940, and died 8 december 1980 when he was fourty years old.

He was born and raised in liverpool, where he became involved in his first band called skiffle cafe, eventually this band became the beatles. Jhon became a solo artist after a while, plastic ono band. was one of his albums.

Jhon quit the music buissnes in 1975, to help with his familly, but got back into it in 1980 with a new album double fantasy. tragicly, Jhon was murdured three weeks after its first release. Lennon revealed a rebellious nature in his music, and as you probably know many many people respected him... exept for the person who murdured him of course.

Personally I am very sad that he had to be murdured and i wish that he could have been alive so the beatles where able to make good music. Leave a comment below to tell me how you feel about his death. I know it was 1980 but a lot of people are still mad about it
